Hiking in Villagrande Strisaili
The village of Villagrande (Biddamanna in Sard) is at the centre of Ogliastra, on the mountains of the Gennargentu, at about 700m amsl, just a few minutes by car from the splendid east coast. According to legend, the town was established by shepherds from the nearby town of Talana or from Desulo.
In Villagrande there are numerous traces of the Nuragic period, and these indicate the historical importance of this area, rich in rivers and water sources, for the Sardinian people.
